Free Shuttles from Placencia airport to Belize Ocean Club & Resort are provided. For connecting flights to Placencia Airport, we recommend using Maya Island Air. Placencia is a 45 minute flight from Belize City.
The Belize exchange rate is US$1.00 = BZ$2.00. However, US currency is gladly accepted throughout the country and there is no need to have your money changed into local Belize Dollars.
The average temperature at Belize Ocean Club is 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather can be unpredictable. Daytime temperatures range between mid-80s to 90s while evenings are usually in the low 80s.
The dress code is casual throughout the resort and restaurants.
Items to Bring
Bring plenty of sunscreen and bug spray along for your stay. These items can be expensive in Belize so its best to purchase them ahead of time. For water tours, we suggest wearing a rash guard or long sleeved shirt for extra protection from the harsh sun. Bug spray is also nice to have for inland tours or evenings at the resort.
Dining and Room Service
Breakfast is available 7:00am–11:30am, Lunch is 11:30am-3:00pm and Dinner is 6:00pm-9:00pm. Room Service is available from 7:00am to 9:00pm.
Each Suite includes a mini bar, iHome station, coffee maker, iron and hair dryer. Outlets are 110 volts. Laundry and ironing services are available upon request. Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. The suites also offer phones with roaming service.
The closest clinic is 8.5 miles from Belize Ocean Club, and there is a doctor in the village. Please come prepared with any medications or allergy prescriptions you may need. And if anyone in your party has a food allergy, please inform your server as the restaurants at the resort are not allergen-free.

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary
Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1990 is world renowned for being the first jaguar reserve. Over 128,000 acres of lush tropical rainforest are ringed by the spectacular Cockscomb Mountains. Explore the jungle trails of this flora & fauna sanctuary with a naturalist tour guide, home to all five (5) of Belize's cats: Jaguar, Puma, Margay, Jaguarundi, and Ocelot. It is estimated that over 80 resident Jaguars are in the area and a large array of other exotic birds & wildlife. Learn of the work to save the allusive jaguar, while having fun at the same time! After your hike, tube-float down the South Stann Creek for a unique close-up look at the jungle and then take a short hike to the waterfall for a cool dip to conclude your visit. Afterwards enjoy a short picnic lunch before returning back to the hotel.
Monkey River & Manatee Watch
Explore Monkey River by boat, observing Howler Monkeys, tropical birds, iguanas, crocodiles and many other species of wildlife. A Stop at the village of Monkey River to place a lunch order and then drive upriver for 20 minutes and hike trails through the rain forest to view families of Howler Monkeys and several species of flora & fauna, with an experienced guide. This is a remarkable wildlife trip. On your return down river, you will stop in the Village of Monkey River for a lunch of local Creole food. The boat captain will take you through mangrove estuaries at the edge of the lagoon, home of the Manatee.
½ day Horseback Riding
The destination is about 30 minutes away from the hotel. Outback trail provide beautiful rides through cool forest and wildflower meadows, bordering the Kendal River. The trail itself is about 45 minutes that is set at the heart of the Blue Maya mountain range. Head out with an experienced guide and horses for amazing rides from leisurely strolls to adventurous treks. Learn how the Mayan survived in the jungle and use exotic rainforest plants for medicinal purposes.
